Interesting morning here on Wailuku Drive. The light was low and it was raining, but for some reason I don't quite understand, the greens were lit up beautifully -- all of them, no matter what plant they were on. I had four candidates for the HDI and all of them were good.

 

In the end I chose the lychee because of the subtle colors and the way the shadows brought out the blocks of leaves. I did kill the shadows a bit to get the effect I wanted. The camera gave me plenty of detail down in those shadows but I didn't want it.

 

Second choice was this one.
